Why PawPies Exists
Built on trust. Shaped by experience. Led by Tokyo. With 1 philosophy in mind - Make it like we made it for Tokyo.
PawPies began at home, with a dog named Tokyo.
Tokyo, a European Doberman, was everything people don’t expect from the breed at first glance—gentle at home, quietly observant, deeply intuitive, and completely certain that he belonged wherever his humans were. He had his routines, his favourite corner of the couch, and a way of making his presence felt by demanding attention through constant affection.
More importantly, he trusted us. Completely. That trust became the foundation of PawPies.
Where It Really Started
The truth - the conversation started when, the now co-founder, accidentally ate some Crunchy chicken treat that was made for Lattu, our indie; the recipe used was from Tokyo’s teething days.
Ashim’s words - ooh this will be great with some peri-peri seasoning. That’s when I realised that the food or the treats we made for Tokyo were good for humans to eat and that is why we made them for Tokyo because anything less than that was not good enough, it was not acceptable.
We weren’t trying to make “pet food.” We were making food we trusted—food that just happened to be for Tokyo.
The Shift: From Convenience to Control
Instead of searching endlessly for better alternatives, we made a simple decision—we started preparing Tokyo’s food ourselves.
Fresh chicken
Vegetables like carrots, pumpkin, and broccoli
Small amounts of coconut oil
No fillers. No additives. No ambiguity.
The impact was immediate and noticeable.
- His digestion improved
- His enthusiasm around food changed—it became more than routine
- He began to ask for his meals if we were even a minute late.
This wasn’t about creating something “premium.” It was about removing uncertainty.
For the first time, we knew exactly what he was eating—and that changed everything.
A Realisation That Stayed
What began as a personal adjustment quickly turned into a larger realisation:
The problem isn’t always what’s added to pet food—it’s what isn’t explained.
The industry often operates on a level of assumed trust. But as pet parents, we realised that trust shouldn’t come from branding or familiarity—it should come from understanding.
Because when you truly see your dog as family, your standards shift.
You begin to ask:
Is this something I recognise?
Is this something I trust?
Is this something I would confidently feed every day?
If the answer isn’t clear, the choice becomes difficult to justify.
From Personal Choice to Purpose
PawPies was not created to compete in the pet food market. It was created to bring a different level of clarity to it. At its core, PawPies follows a few simple principles:
Real Ingredients Only
Every ingredient used is identifiable, familiar, and purposeful.
Human-Grade Thinking
If I won’t eat it due to a quality concern, I won’t give it to Tokyo.
Transparency Over Marketing
No vague terminology. No hidden components. What you see is exactly what you get.
Function Over Hype
Each product is designed to support well-being—not just appeal to trends.

Why Tokyo Still Matters
Tokyo isn’t a memory we reference. He’s a presence we still design around.
Long before PawPies became a brand, it was a habit of noticing what he loved, what worked for him, and what we hoped would support him as he grew older.
The way he lit up at the sound of the word Chicken. His quiet obsession with broccoli, pumpkin, and anything he could chew and explore. The joy he found in something as simple as shredding lettuce across the floor. The comfort of coconut oil rituals—care that went beyond just feeding
These weren’t just preferences. They were patterns we paid attention to.
And somewhere along the way, those patterns turned into a list—not written down, but remembered. A mental catalogue of Tokyo’s favourites and Tokyo’s needs.
What he enjoyed.
What suited his digestion.
What we believed would support him as he aged; gentler foods, cleaner ingredients, nourishment without excess.
That list is where PawPies still begins.
Every product we create today is, in some way, drawn from it—either something he loved deeply, or something we once thought, “this would be good for him later.”
Because when you love a dog like Tokyo, you don’t just feed them for today.
You feed them for the life you want them to have. And even though he’s no longer here, that intention hasn’t changed. If anything, it’s become sharper. More deliberate.
PawPies isn’t just inspired by Tokyo.
It is, in many ways, still being made for him.
This Is Not Just About Treats
It’s easy to reduce pet food to categories—nutrition, ingredients, pricing, packaging.
But at its core, it’s about something much simpler:
A dog that waits for you every day
A routine that brings comfort and familiarity
A relationship built on trust and love; without conditions
Dogs don’t question what we feed them. They don’t evaluate ingredients or compare brands. They trust that what we give them is right. That trust deserves to be met with intention.
Why PawPies Exists
PawPies exists because we chose to take that trust seriously.
It exists because once we experienced the difference that real, simple food made, going back was no longer an option.
And it exists for dog parents who believe that:
Food should be understandable
Ingredients should be honest
And care should never be compromised for convenience
Tokyo may no longer be here, but his impact continues to shape everything we do.
Every recipe. Every decision. Every standard.
Because PawPies isn’t just built for dogs. It’s built for the responsibility that comes with loving them.
